Past Honorees of “Sisters Honoring Sister”

2025 Honoree: Joyce harmon

At 91, Joyce Harmon is a radiant example of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and selfless service. A devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and professional, Joyce has spent her life reflecting the love of Christ in every role she has embraced. Her story is not just one of enduring hardship, but of living with purpose, grace, and godliness. Throughout her life, Joyce faced many trials. At the age 30, Joyce became a single mother of three—an uncommon and often stigmatized role in the 1960s. Instead of giving in to despair, Joyce stood strong. Choosing not to dwell in bitterness or self-pity, she instead worked tirelessly to support her children as well as instill in them a deep and lasting love for the Lord. Her life is a powerful testimony of godliness in action. Through hardship and triumph, she has remained steadfast in her devotion to the Lord. Her quiet strength continues to bless all who know her, and her story remains a source of inspiration for generations to come.

2024 Honoree: DANA CARROZZA

Atlanta Women’s Weekend is pleased to honor Dana Carrozza, co-founder of Sacred Selections. After having observed families who wished to adopt children and were unable to afford the cost, Dana thought of a solution. She began organizing a group of Christians to make private donations and financially support fellow Christians on their adoption journey. The dream of raising enough to fund one adoption came to fruition in 2006, but it didn’t stop there. Since then, she has spent countless hours counseling families, sharing heartwarming stories at fundraisers, working closely with adoption agencies and attorneys, and spreading the word about the great act of love that is adoption. God has given the increase and in 18 years almost 500 children have been partially or fully funded by the generous donations entrusted to Sacred Selections.

2023 Honoree: CANETA HALL

This year we would like to salute Caneta Hall, you can read an essay by her on our website. When Caneta wrote it in 2004, she and Sewell were working with the Upper West Manhattan congregation in New York City and also trying to encourage the many small congregations in New England by traveling to visit whenever a gospel meeting was announced, something they both enjoyed greatly. In December of 2005, they moved to work in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, until 2008, when they returned to the Embry Hills congregation in Atlanta, living in “the house on the hill.” In 2011, they moved into a condo just across the interstate from the Embry Hills building. It was there, on February 19, 2020, that she passed peacefully from this earth. She had served quietly but effectively as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and even as a great-grandmother, but most importantly, as a Christian woman who constantly served others as she served Christ Jesus.

2022 Honoree: MARGARET HEAD

This year we would like to salute Margaret Head, a founding board member of Atlanta Women’s Weekend. At 83, she began serving AWW faithfully for ten years. Many of you will remember countless cookies and cookbooks she brought to sell at AWW. In addition to writing cookbooks, Margaret is the author of “It Can Be Done,” “Can Grief Be a Blessing?” and Mining for God’s Gold in Life’s Dark Valleys.”
