Our theme for 2016 is Running the Race taken from Hebrews 12:1-2
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

2016 Speaker Bios
Carrie Black was born in Gainesville, Florida, and reared in Chiefland, Florida. She and her husband, Darren, will celebrate their 20th anniversary this December. They have three teenage sons: Jacob, Jeb, and Austin, and Carrie has enjoyed home-schooling their boys for the past eleven years. Darren and Carrie work with the Southwest Church of Christ in Lakeland, Florida. Carrie enjoys teaching children’s Bible classes and ladie’s Bible studies. She has also been privileged to participate in several trips to Romania to work with the congregation in Bucharest. Among her favorite activities are spending time with her family, crossword puzzles, enjoying the outdoors, and Florida State University Seminole football!
Norma Jean Bowman was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and lived in Kansas and Oklahoma until 1967, when she moved to Lubbock, Texas. There, she met and married Dee Bowman in 1960, and then moved to Deer Park, Texas is 1976. Dee is one of the ministers of the Southside Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas. Dee and Norma have two children: their son, Russ, and daughter, Denise. Russ is the minister of the Northwest Church of Christ in Beaumont, is married to Tracy Haley. They have three daughters, Haley, Tori, and Emily. Norma has worked in secretarial positions most of her married life, but after helping get the children through college she has been privileged to travel with her husband in his gospel meeting work.
Robin Owen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Willard and Betty Johnson. She attended Florida College in 1974, where she quickly met the love of her life, David Owen. Robin’s greatest joy was to happily serve by her husband’s side for forty years as he preached the gospel in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, California, and India. Together they have two beautiful daughters, Katie Owen and Lauren Wickerham, as well as three adorable grandchildren: Emma, Lydia, and Scott. Just over a year ago, Robin lost her husband David after a four-year battle with cancer. In January 2016, she relocated to Tampa, Florida, and works at Florida College as the administrative assistant to the president. Her warm smile and huge heart has continued to be an encouragement to all around her. To many, Robin has been a source of strength and comfort, an excellent example of a servant of Christ.
Jenny Reed was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to Marilyn and Bobby Hardage, her first examples of committed servants of God. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a major in Russian and later married Michael Reed. They moved to Lakeland, Florida, where they had a daughter, Rachael, and two sons, Joshua and David, and she and her husband share six grandchildren. Jenny worships with the Southwest Church of Christ in Lakeland, Florida. Jenny devoted herself to homemaking and serving the local church and community. As her children grew more independent, she returned to school for a M.A. in European History and later a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. She taught at the University of South Florida for several years before joining the staff of the Learning Resource Center in Lakeland where she helped low-achieving students achieve academic goals. Jenny has been blessed to travel extensively, venturing to every continent and exploring many cultures, including participating in mission trips to Belize, Romania, and Israel. Although Jenny as retired from full time-work, she teaches community classes as well as encouraging and building up her home congregation.
